The annual Facets Sri Lanka International Gem & Jewellery Show will be held this year from the 2nd to the 5th of September 2010. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the exhibition (Held annually since 1991).
Hundreds of local and foreign exhibitors are expected to participate in the show this year. According to the official website of the FACETS show, this years exhibition promises to be bigger and better than ever before especially with regards to overseas participation.
The venue of the show is the BMICH exhibition and convention center, Colombo. Equipped with ultra-modern facilities and proximity to major hotels in the city make it an ideal venue. The show will be housed in two separate halls. One hall will house the gemstone wholesalers while the other will house jewelry and other services.
Jewelry fashion shows would be held daily for the entire duration of the show.
Deshabandu Macky Hashim, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association (SLGJA) told the daily mirror “This year’s FACETS exhibition offers the local industry a very good opportunity to venture into new markets such as India, Russia, China and Turkey, in addition to the traditional gem buying countries such as US, Hong Kong and Europe,”.
Special delegations from India, Burma and China are scheduled to arrive for the event. India, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong will participate as exhibitors.
Chairman of the FACETS Organising Committee Chanaka Ellawala said “We are confident that all the booth holders at this year’s FACETS SRI LANKA exhibition will benefit from the visits of these delegations and the SLGJA is making arrangements to further facilitate this process,”
