Sotheby’s New York June 9, 2021 Magnificent Jewels Live Sale featuring 97 exceptional signed jewels, together with important diamonds, colored diamonds and colored stones was successfully concluded, the auction being conducted in a combined format featuring both advanced online bidding and live auction. Around 74% of the bidders participated online, while 84% of the available lots received advanced bids. According to Sotheby’s 93% of the lots on offer were sold at the auction, of which 65% exceeded their higher estimates.
LOT 93 – A MAGNIFICENT DIAMOND NECKLACE BY ANDREW CLUNN
Top highlight of the sale was LOT 93 – A MAGNIFICENT DIAMOND NECKLACE BY ANDREW CLUNN – a property from a distinguished collection sold to benefit a charitable foundation, with a pre-sale estimate of USD 2,000,000 – 3,000,000. The lot sold much above the upper estimate for USD 4,134,000. The reviere necklace of length 15 ins is set with 28 graduated oval-shaped diamonds varying in weight from 3.00 carats to 17.01 carats, color varying from E to H color, and clarity varying from Internally Flawless to VS2 claeity, with a total weight 168.91 carats.
Lot 91 – G by GLENN SPIRO – THE SIENNA STAR, FANCY VIVID YELLOW DIAMOND AND DIAMOND RING
The next highlight of the sale registering the second highest sale price of USD 3,408,000 is Lot 91 – G by GLENN SPIRO – THE SIENNA STAR, FANCY VIVID YELLOW DIAMOND AND DIAMOND RING. The size 6, white metal ring is claw-set with a cut-cornered, square emerald-cut, fancy vivid yellow, natural color, VS2-clarity diamond, weighing 73.11 carats, the basket and flexible set with colorless round diamonds.

LOT 92 – AN EXCEPTIONAL DIAMOND RING – also a property from a distinguished collection sold to benefit a charitable foundation, which sold above the pre-sale estimate of USD 1.8 – 2.8 million for USD 2,924,000 is the next highlight of the sale. Size 6¾, white metal ring is claw-set with a cut-cornered square emerald-cut, D-color, Internally Flawless, Type Iia diamond weighing 23.59 carats flanked by half-moon shaped colorless diamonds.
LOT 67 – BULGARI – A SUPERB SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING
In terms of price realized the next highlight of the sale was LOT 67 – BULGARI – A SUPERB SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING, which sold within the estimate of USD 2.0 – 3.0 milliion for USD 2,863,500. Size 5 ¾ white metal ring, signed Bulgari, is claw-set with a cushion-cut Kashmir blue sapphire, weighing 25.29 carats, flanked by tapered bullet-shaped diamonds on the shoulders of the ring. Three lab reports by AGL,GGL and SSEF, certify that the sapphire is of Kashmir origin with no indications of heating.
LOT 97 – HARRY WINSTON – AN IMPRESSIVE EMERALD AND DIAMOND NECKLACE
LOT 97 – HARRY WINSTON – AN IMPRESSIVE EMERALD AND DIAMOND NECKLACE – which sold above its estimated range of USD 1.5 -2.5 million for USD 2,803,000 is the next highlight of the sale. The lot was also a property from a distinguished collection sold to benefit a charitable foundation. The necklace of length 15½ ins which can be dismantled into three segemnts of lengths 4 ins, 3½ and 2 ins signed Winston is set with five equally spaced emerald-cut emeralds weighing a total of 116.73 carats

LOT 96 – AN IMPORTANT RUBY AND DIAMOND RING – MOUINTED BY CARVIN FRENCH – is another lot that did well at the sale, registering a price of USD 2.500,500 above the estimated range of USD 1,000,000 – 2,000,000. This lot was also a property from a distinguishedF collection sold to benefit a charitable foundation. Size 5½ yellow gold ring with maker’s mark for Carvin French is bezel-set on either side with a cushion-cut Burma ruby weighing 13.02 carats, accented by half-moon shaped colorless diamonds, also bezel set on the shoulders of the ring, and round colorless diamonds claw-set on the upper hoop of the ring. AGL, SSEF & GGL reports accompanying the lot, confirm that the ruby is of Burmese origin with no indications of heating or clarity enhancement.
LOT 43 – AN IMPORTANT FANCY INTENSE PINK DIAMOND AND DIAMOND RING
LOT 43 – AN IMPORTANT FANCY INTENSE PINK DIAMOND AND DIAMOND RING – selling for USD 2,016,500, within the estimated range of USD 1,500,000 – 2,500,000 is another highlight of the sale. Size 7¼white metal ring is claw-set with a modified square brilliant-cut, fancy intense pink diamond, weighing 3.75 carats, accented by a row of round brilliant-cut colorless diamonds set on the border of the gallery and upper hoop of the ring, and a triangle-shaped diamond on the shoulders of the ring. GIA report confirms that the diamond is fancy intense pink, natural color and VVS2-clarity.
LOTS 94 AND 95 – TWO DIAMOND PENDANTS – both properties from a distinguished collection sold to benefit a charitable foundation – also did quite well at the auction, LOT 94 – selling for USD 1,169,500 within the estimate of USD1.0 – 1.5 million and LOT 95 – selling for USD 1,774,500 within the estimate of USD 1.2 -1.8 million.
