Sotheby’s Geneva Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels Sale, live auction to be held in two parts, Part I and Part II on November 10, 2021 and November 11, 2021, featuring 94 lots and 172 lots respectively, offers a broad and varied selection of jewelry dating from the 19th century upto the present day and includes jewels from the world’s most renowned jewelry houses, such as Bulgari, Cartier, Sterle, Hemmerle, Rene Boivin, Harry Winston etc. consisting of a variety of jewels such as bracelets, brooches, earring, necklaces, parures and demi-parures, rings etc.

Top lot of the sale based on estimates is Lot 402 – Emerald and Diamond Ring – with a pre-sale estimate of CHF90,000 – CHF140,000 (USD98,429 – USD153,112). Ring size 53, 18k gold ring stamped 750 for 18k gold and inscribed E3.42, D0.91 and D0.34 indicating the carat weight of the emerald and diamonds, is set with a cut-cornered step-cut emerald weighing 3.42 carats, flanked by trapeze-shaped diamonds on the shoulders of the ring, and the upper hoop of the ring further enhanced with round brilliant-cut diamonds.

Gubelin Gem Lab report no. 21071048 states the octagonal step-cut emerald weighing 3.41 carats and with dimensions 10.14 x 8.49 x 6.23 mm is of Colombian origin, with no indications of clarity enhancement.

The next most-valued lot of the sale is Lot 404 – Fancy Vivid Yellow Diamond Ring, with an estimate of CHF85,000 – CHF120,000 (USD 92,961 – USD131,239). Ring size 55, platinum ring, stamped Pt950 for platinum, is set with a cut-cornered, square modified brilliant-cut, famcy vivid yellow diamond, weighing 5.04 carats, flanked by triangular-shaped colorless diamonds on the shoulders of the ring.

GIA e-Report bearing No.15862734, states that the cut-cornered, square modified brilliantt-cut diamond weighing 5.04 carats and having dimensions of 9.30 x 8.96 x 6.17 mmm is fancy vivid yellow, natural color and SI2 clarity. The diamonds on the shoulders of the ring estimated to weigh a total of approximately 1.50 – 2.00 carat, with an average of H-I color and SI clarity, as gauged and graded in the mount.

Lot 456 – M. Gérard – Emerald and Diamond Demi-Parure, with an estimate of CHF80,000 – CHF120,000 (USD87,257 – USD130,886) is the next highlight of the sale.

The demiparure consists of a necklace and a bracelet. The 37 cm triple-strand necklace is set throughout with round brilliant-cut diamonds and the front of the necklace is accented with four step-cut emeralds weighing 6.41, 4.69, 4.37 and 3.31 carats. Supporting a detachable pendant made of four strands, similalry set with diamonds and terminating with three emeralds. The pendant may be worn as a brooch.

The bracelet of length 17 cm is set with a step-cut emerald in the center weighing 3.29 carats and has three strands on either side, also set with round brilliant-cut diamonds.

SSEF report bearing No. 109354 states the step-cut emerald are of Colombian origin, and the emeralds weighing 6.41 and 3.29 carats are with a minor amount of oil in fissures and the remaining three emeralds with a moderate amount of oil in fissures.

Lot 321 – Ruby and Diamond Ring – with an estimate of CHF75,000 – CHF100,000 (USD82,225 – USD109,6330) is the next highlight of the sale.

Size 51 ring, stamped 759 for 18k gold and Pt950 for platinum, is claw-set with an oval-cut ruby weighing 3.36 carats, flanked by oval-cut colorless diamonds on the shoulders of the ring.

SSEF report bearing No.106745 states that the oval ruby weighing 3.36 carats is of Burmese origin, with no evidence of heating.

GIA report 2215095188, states that the oval diamond weighing 0.85 cart is D-Color, VS2 Clarity. A second GIA report bearing No. 6214095190, states that the oval diamond weighing 0.83 carats is E-Color and SI-1 clarity.

Another highlight of the sale is Lot 436 – Pair of natural pearl and diamond earrings – with an estimate of CHF70,000 – CHF100,000 (USD76,743 – USD109,633). Each of the pair of earrings suspends a slightly baroque drop-shaped natural pearl with dimensions of approxi,ately 12.38 – 13.37 x 17.40 mm and 11.50 – 13.45 x 17.75 mm capped with single-cut diamonds and the surmount also set with similarly cut and circular-cut diamonds.

SSEF and GCS reports bearing nos. 118857 and 78140-43 respectively state that the pearls were found to be natural and saltwater.

Lot 432 is a toi et moi ring, titled Emerald and Diamond Ring with an estimate of CHF65,000 – CHF95,000 (USD71,261 – USD104,151).

The ring of toi et moi design is set with a step-cut emerald and a similarly cut colorless diamond, weighing respectively 2.67 carats and 3.11 carats, enhanced with single-cut colorless diamonds on the upper hoop of the ring.

SSEF report no.114996 states that the emerald is of Colombian origin with no indications of clarity enhancement. GIA report no.5202241984 states that the diamond is G-color and VVS2 clarity.

Another highlight of the sale is Lot 330 – Cartier, Gem Set and Diamond Brooch, with an estimate of CHF60,000 – CHF75,000 (USD65,780 – USD82,225).

The brooch designed as a bird of paradise, perched on a branch, the fruits composed of cabochon turquoises, leaves set with brilliant-cut diamonds, the crest enhanced with circular-cut rubies and the eye set with a cabochon emerald. Signed Cartier, stamped 18k 750 for 18 carat gold and PT900 for platinum.
