Christie’s announced on July 11, 2013, their first ever online-only jewelry sale, christened the “Summer Jewels” consisting of 107 lots from contemporary jewelers, with a price range accessible to a wider spectrum of collectors, to be held from July 17 to 26, 2013. The sale features a variety of exquisitely crafted jewelry pieces, such as necklaces, pendant necklaces, earrings, ear pendants, ear hoops, ear clips, ear studs, bracelets, bangle bracelets, rings and cufflinks, from up and coming designers like LIly Gabriella Elia of Monaco, and Olivia Wildenstein of New York, as well as some vibrant pieces fron Marina Bulgari, Roberto Coin and Salavetti. Braziian born young designer Lily Gabriella Elia, who draws inspiration from fine art to modern architecture for her creations, produces contemporary designs, working with gold of all colors combined with precious and semi-precious gemstones, yet employing traditional methods. Some examples of her creations on offer include Lot 103 – A Diamond Pendant Necklace, with a pre-sale estimate of US$ 4,000-5000; Lot 07 – An 18K White Gold and Diamond Ring inspired by Elia’s South American heritage, with a pre-sale estimate of US$ 2,800-3,800 and Lot 01 – An Amethyst, Diamond and Gold Necklace, with a presale estimate of US$ 3,500-4,500.
Olivia Wildenstein, a jewelry designer from New York, studied at the Parsons School of Design in New York and undertook internships with Oscar de la Renta. Her own line of jewelry, under the name of “Keemee” comprises individual jewels, each of unique design, some of which were featured in the May 2008 issue of “Women’s Wear Daily” and the October 2008 issue of “American Vogue” magazines. Among her creations on offer are, Lot 14 – A Citrine and Diamond Bonbon Ring with a pre-sale estimate of US$ 1,000-1,500; Lot 13 – A Garnet and Diamond Bonbon Ring, also with a presale estimate of US$ 1,000-1,500, and Lot 22 – A Pair of Cultured Pearl and Diamond “Coeurs Enlacés” Ear Pendants, with a pre-sale estimate of US$ 6,000-8,000.
Among other highlights featured at the sale are Lot 97 – A Pair of Sapphire and White Gold Cufflinks by Trianon, with a pre-sale estimate of US$ 3,000-3,500; Lot 08 – A Diamond and White Gold Bangle Bracelet by Marina B, with a pre-sale estimate of US$ 4,500-5,500; Lot 64- A Diamond and White Gold Bracelet by Roberto Coin, with a pre-sale estimate of US$ 7,000-9,000 and Lot 12 – A Ruby and Diamond Necklace by Favero, with a pre-sale estimate of US$ 20,000-30,000.
