ALROSA SELLS USD 1.046 BILLION ROUGH AND POLISHED DIAMONDS FOR JAN-FEB 2018

ALROSA Group, the world’s leader in diamond production, in a press release dated March 7, 2018, has announced its diamond sales results for the month of February, 2018 and total diamond sales for the first two months of 2018.

According to this release ALROSA’s sales soared 35% year-on-year in February, 2018, to US$541.9 million attributed to the significant demand ahead of the Chinese holiday season. Out of this rough diamond sales amounted to USD 532.8 million and polished diamond sales to USD 9.1 million.

ALROSA’s total diamond sales for January and February 2018 amounted to USD 1.046 billion of which the rough diamond component was USD 1.032 billion and polished diamond component USD 14.6 million.

Commenting on the sales results for the first two months of 2018, results ALROSA’s Deputy CEO Yury Okoemov said, “In February, the core diamond markets were quite strong. The diamond cutting sector continues replenishing the stock. Demand for diamond products was also backed up by good jewelry sales in China on the eve of the Chinese New Year. Prices for diamonds in most size categories grew in January-February, 2018.”
