In a press release dated 20th February 2018, ALROSA, the world’s leading diamond mining company has announced plans for the holding of two diamond auctions, at the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, the World’s largest Gem & Jewelry Market Place, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) taking place from February 27 to March 3, 2018. While one auction will be conducted by ALROSA’S United Selling Organization for special size rough diamonds the second auction will be conducted by DIAMONDS ALROSA, the cutting division of ALROSA, for cut and polished diamonds.
The United Selling Organization will offer for sale, 121 gem-quality, special size rough diamonds, over 10.8 carats in weight, with a total weight of 1949 carats, the largest diamond in the lot weighing 47.08 carats. These gemstones were mined from the deposits of PJSC ALROSA, and its subsidiaries, JSC Almazy Anabara and PJSC Alrosa-Nyurba.
DIAMONDS ALROSA, will offer for sale 87 cut and polished diamonds of variable sizes and cuts such as emerald, square-emerald, cushion, pear, radiant, heart and oval; the largest diamond in the lot being a round brilliant-cut weighing 20.63 carats. While 63 gemstones in the lot are of standard color range, 24 are fancy yellow diamonds. The total weight of the 87 diamonds is 284 carats. These polished diamonds were manufactured from rough gemstones mined at the deposits of PJSC ALROSA, and its subsidiaries, PJSC ALROSA-Nyurba and PJSC Severalmaz.
Commenting on the holding of the auctions at Hong Kong, Yury Okoemov, Deputy CEO of ALROSA said, “Our Hong Kong auctions usually attract customers from major diamond trading centers, including those from the Asia-Pacific. To date, more than 80 companies have been registered to participate in the auction. Taking into account the composition of the participants and the stable demand for our assortment, we expect that the auction will bring us good results.”
