By organizing this global gem & jewelry fair, while the DMCC hopes to establish Dubai as a global trading hub for gem and jewelry, also catering to the enormous requirements of the Middle-East, Africa, Eastern Europe, Russia and the CIS region, the GJEPC intends to establish India as one of the most favorable destinations for sourcing not only loose cut and polished diamonds and colored stones, but also fine jewelry of exquisite designs set with such gemstones, as well as plain gold/silver/platinum jewelry. In the context of Dubai being situated midway between the producing and consuming nations, with its unrivaled infrastructure such as world-class cargo facilities, ports and airports, and its position as one of the top three diamond trading centers in the world, with around US$ 40 billion worth of diamonds passing through DMCC’s Dubai Diamond Exchange annually, Dubai is ideally suited for its future role as the hub of the international gem and jewelry trade and thus becomes a natural host city for such an international event.
