Bonhams Hong Kong much awaited Autumn Jewels & Jadeite Sale has been scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 19th September, 2018, starting at 14.00 HKT at their Hong Kong Admiralty Sales Center, situated at Suite 2001, One Pacific Place, 88 Queensway, Admiralty Hong Kong. The auction will be preceded by viewings of the lots at the same venue from Sunday, 16th September, 2018 to Wednesday, 19th September, 2018, viewing times being 14.00 – 18.00 HKT on the 16th, 10.00 – 17.00 HKT on the 17th & 18th and 10.00 – 13.00 HKT on the 19th, September 2018. A total of 217 lots will be on offer at the auctions consisting of a variety of jewelry such as bangles, bracelets, brooches, earclips, earrings, necklaces, pendants, parures, demi-parures and rings set with  set with colored and colorless diamonds, colored gemstones such as emeralds,  jadeites, rubies, sapphires, agate, amethysts, aquamarine, citrine, lapis lazuli, onyx, quartz,  tourmaline, turquoise, and organic gemstones such as natural and cultured pearls, corals, mother-of-pearl and seed pearls, the metals used being gold, platinum and silver.

Top among Colored Diamond Lots is LOT 651 – A FANCY COLOURED DIAMOND AND DIAMOND NECKLACE – with an estimate of HK$ 180,000 – 280,000 (US$ 23,000 – 36,000).  The necklace of length 43.8 cm with a linear pendant of length 8.5 cm is designed as an articulated necklace set throughout with brilliant-cut diamonds of pink tint, accented by variously cut fancy colored diamonds, of varying shades. Total weight of certified colored diamonds 3.56 carats. Total weight of remaining diamonds approximately 16.30 carats.

GIA report no. 2145807088 dated July 23, 2012 states that the 0.78 carat round cornered rectangular modified brilliant ‘Chameleon’ diamond is Natural Fancy Greyish Greenish Yellow color.

GIA report no. 5141452543 dated February 17, 2012, states that the 0.28 carat pear modified brilliant diamond is Natural Fancy Dark Brown-Greenish Yellow color and SI1 clarity.

Further accompanied by five GIA reports stating that the 0.70, 0.59, 0.52, 0.49 and 0.20 carat diamonds are Natural Fancy Pinkish Brown, Natural Very Light Pink, Natural Fancy Light Pinkish Brown, Natural Fancy Brown-Greenish Yellow and Natural Very Light Pink.

GIA report no. 1152037649, dated October 18, 2012, states that the 1.28 ct round brilliant diamond is Natural Fancy Deep Brownish Orange color.

GRS report no.GRS2015-078855 dated 28th July, 2015, states that the natural oval green cabochon emerald weighing 26.97 carats has indications of minor to moderate clarity enhancement and originates from Brazil.

The bangle of inner circumference 16.5cm designed as a snake has a split yellow gold shank representing the coiled body of the snake, and the yellow gold head of the snake set with a pear-shaped emerald, accented by old brilliant-cut diamonds surround also pear-shaped but the narrow end extended and pointed. The eyes are set with cabochon rubies and small old brilliant-cut diamonds on the eye lashes. The triangular snout set with a single old brilliant-cut diamond.

The brooch of length 5.4 cm is made of a translucent carved jadeite plaque of intense green color, depicting a pot of lotus flowers, accented by baguette, marquise, and brilliant-cut diamonds, diamonds. Total weight of diamonds approximately 6.10 carats.

HKJSL report SJ 171600, dated 11th July, 2018, states that the carved flower plaque of dimensions 43.11 x 31.45 x 5.13 mm, of translucent intense green color of total weight of 104.28 carats including mounting,  is a Natural Color, Type A,  Fei Cui (jadeite jade) without any resin.

The jadeite bangle with outer & inner diameter and thickness measuring 70.1 x 54.6 x 11.6 mm respectively is made of translucent jadeite jade of intense green color, suffused with celadon green patches throughout.

HKJSL report no. KJ 87025, dated 15th August, 2014, states that the natural color, translucent, intense green and white fei cui (jadeite jade) has no resin detected.

Lot 540 – A JADEITE AND DIAMOND NECKLACE – HK$ 70,000 – 100,000 (US$ 8,900 – 13,000) is another significant jadeite lot in the sale.  The lower half of the necklace, 41.0 cm in length is made of marquise-shaped, translucent, bright green jadeite cabochons, spaced by brilliant and baguette-cut diamonds, with a median centerpiece made up of three marquise-shaped cabochons arranged as an inverted trefoil, with an upper radiating row baguette-cut diamonds and a row of brilliant-cut diamonds in-between. The upper half of the necklace is completed by a cuban-link chain.

HKJSL report no. SJ 118941, dated 17th July, 2015, states that the selected natural translucent bright-green color Fei Cui (Jadeite Jade) is Type A, without any resin.

The brooch of diameter 8.3 cm made of a grey metal, is designed as a camellia flower head, entirely pavé-set with oval, pear and circular-cut rubies. Gross weight of the brooch 87.69 grams and total weight of rubies is approximately 94.40 carats. GIA report no 6172843178 dated August 6, 2014 in respect of a randomly selected single oval-shaped, brilliant-cut ruby states that the selected ruby is natural with no indications of heating.

LOT 516 – A STAR RUBY AND DIAMOND BRACELET – with an estimate of HK$ 100,000 – 150,000 (US$ 13,000 – 19,000) is another significant ruby lot of the sale. The white metal articulated bracelet of length 17.3 cm is set with five rows of cabochon star rubies, graduating in size towards the middle, interspersed with brilliant-cut diamonds, set on zones of geometric designs separating the zones of star rubies. There are five zones of star rubies and five zones of brilliant-cut diamonds on the bracelet, with secure clasp at the ends. Total weight of diamonds approximately 4.80 carats and total weight of rubies approximately 99.00n carats.

Dunaigre lab report states that the selected natural star ruby has no indications of heat treatment and originates from Burma (Myanmar).

Each of the pair of pendant earrings, 4.4 cm long, signed Alexander Laut, is designed as a hanging foliage and floral motif, the marquise-shaped rosettes on the surmount and bottom of the earring set with single-cut and old brilliant-cut diamonds, the stems set with baguette cut diamonds further accented by single and brilliant-cut diamonds, and an oval-cut ruby at the bottom just above lower marquise rosette and another oval-cut ruby on the surmount just below the upper marquise rosette. Total weight of diamonds approximately 2.50 carats and total weight of rubies approximately 5.10 carats

AGL report no. CS 83130 A & B dated 13th February, 2014, states that the selected natural rubies have no indications of heat treatment and originate from Burma (Myanmar).

GIA report no. 6182009947 dated August 25, 2014, states that the selected oval, modified brilliant-cut blue natural sapphire has no indications of heat treatment.

LOT 708 – A SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING – HK$ 120,000 – 220,000 (US$ 15,000 – 28,000) is among the top Sapphire Lots of the sale. Ring size 7¾, white metal ring is claw-set with a cushion-shaped sapphire, weighing 24.25 carats, flanked by tapered baguette-cut diamonds on the shoulders of the ring. Total weight of diamonds approximately 1.15 carats.

SSEF report no. 101588 dated 26th July, 2018, states that the sapphire weighing 24.247 carats, having dimensions of 17.21 x 14.31 x 9.02 mm and an antique cushion modified brilliant-cut,  is a natural sapphire with a blue color of medium strong saturation, with no indications of thermal treatment and originating from Ceylon (Sri Lanka).

GPL report no. 15476 dated 27th March, 2018, states that sapphire weighing 24.24 carats is natural with a transparent blue color, rectangular cushion mixed-cut, dimensions of  17.2 x 14.2 x 9.0 mm, with no evidence of heat treatment and of Sri Lanka origin.

 

LOT 504 - A MULTI-COLOURED SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND BRACELET

The bracelet of length 17.0 cm is of openwork design, set with variously cut fancy sapphires of blue, pink, orange, yellow and green hues, accented by colorless brilliant-cut diamonds. Total weight of sapphires approximately 160.00 carats and total weight of diamonds approximately 2.60 carats.

Seven GIA reports in respect of seven randomly selected sapphires state that five selected natural sapphires have no indications of heat treatment; and two selected natural sapphires show indications of heat treatment.

Gubelin report accompanying the lot states that the 1.32-carat natural alexandrite changes from Bluish-Green (daylight) to Purple (incandescent light), has no indications of treatment and originates from Brazil.

Two Lotus Laboratory reports bearing Nos. 5892-2250 and 3549-1955 in respect of the antique cushion-cut spinel weighing 3,14 carats and a oval cut spinel weighing 1.32 carats respectively, states that the red spinels of intense saturation and medium-deep tone are natural with no indications of thermal treatment and originate from Burma (Myanmar).

Each of the pair of pendant earrings of length 3.8 cm, is composed of a spherical pinkish-white cultured pearl of diameter 12.2 mm, suspended by a diamond-set bellcap arrangement from a brilliant and marquise-cut diamond set flower head surmount. Total weight of diamonds approximately 2.30 carats.

The dress ring of size 7, is set with a white button-shaped cultured pearl as centerpiece, highlighted by a fancy colored marquise-cut sapphire surround of blue, pink and orange hues.
