27TH EDITION OF FACETS SRI LANKA 2017 SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 31 TO SEPTEMBER 3, 2017 PROMISES TO BE THE BIGGEST EVER

Facets Sri Lanka 2017, the 27th edition of Sri Lanka’s Premier International Gem & Jewellery Show, eagerly awaited by all stakeholders in the international gem and jewelry trade and industry, is scheduled to take place from August 31, 2017 to September 3, 2017 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition and Convention Centre, situated adjacent to the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. The show is organized by the Sri Lanka Gem & Jewelry Association (SLGJA) and co-sponsored by the National Gem & Jewelry Authority (NGJA) of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (SLEDB).

The show will be held in the two large octagonal-shaped convention halls of the exhibition center, the main hall being reserved for the display of precious and semi-precious gems and the second hall exclusively dedicated to jewelry, lapidary and other machinery used in the gem and jewelry industry.

Sri Lanka’s finest gems & Jewellery will be on display at the show. A Special Collector’s gemstone corner will provide visitors with the opportunity of viewing some of the rare and important gemstone pieces and materials.

Exhibitors both local and foreign are due to be accommodated in the two main halls A and B containing 150 booths and according to the Booth Layout an additional Hall C in front of Halls A & B known as “Jewel Mart” will accommodate another 39 booths. The organizers of the Facets Exhibition have assured all exhibitors that all booths are laid out to give maximum visibility from all directions and that every booth gets the highest footfall it possibly can. While, over 200 local and foreign exhibitors will be showcasing their Gem and Jewellery products at the 27th edition of Facets Sri Lanka, over 10,000 visitors are expected to visit the show, including a large number of high-profile and influential buyers from around the world, making it the biggest event in its 27-year history.

The ceremonial opening of the show will be held at 9.00 a.m. on August 31, 2017 and the show will be open to visitors from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. on all days of the show from August 31 to September 3, 2017. The organizers have made arrangements for shuttle services from most of the hotels where foreign participants are accommodated to the venue of the show.

The organizers of the Facets Gem & Jewellery Show, have also secured the best rates for rooms at a selection of officially contracted 5-star hotels, with flexible terms and conditions, exclusively for participants of the Exhibition. Hence, foreign participants are advised to do their bookings through the Exhibition Organizers that will entitle them to a variety of benefits and conveniences and make their stay a memorable one.

Chairman of the Facets Sri Lanka 2017 Organizing Committee Mr. Mushtaq Jabir issuing a message on the holding of the 27th Edition of Facets Sri Lanka, states that the achievements and contribution of FACETS SRI LANKA INTERNATIONAL GEM AND JEWELLERY SHOW had been remarkable, as twenty six years of showcasing Sri Lanka’s unique Gem and Jewellery products to the world, had brought lot of benefits to the country, such as paving the way for new export markets for local entrepreneurs; building strong local and international trade linkages at every level of the industry; building an international image for our industry and our nation and bringing the global Gem and Jewellery platform to our doorstep. Continuing further, he said, “Held in September each year, Facets Sri Lanka is the pinnacle event in our industry calendar. This event is the flagship activity of the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association and has been held annually in Colombo since 1991. FACETS Sri Lanka plays a pivotal role in making Colombo a regional Gem & Jewellery hub and Sri Lanka the “Sapphire Capital of the World”.

In his message Chairman of the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association (SLGJA) Mr. A. H. M. Imtizam, said, “Facets Sri Lanka in the largest gem and jewellery exhibition organized in our country and is known for attracting a large number of local and foreign buyers from all around the world. The exhibition has an excellent participation from both Sri Lanka and international companies showcasing the best gemstones produced. The organizing committees in the past had put in a tremendous effort to bring the exhibition to the successful standard it has achieved today and to make it an internationally recognized event. It is very pleasing to see that the present committee headed by Mr. Mushtaq Jabir is working with great enthusiasm and are putting their heart and soul into taking this exhibition to greater heights.”
